Protecting Your AC During Hurricane Season

1. Watch the weather

Pay attention to your local weather and any storms that may be developing.

2. Clean up

Make sure that all items in your yard are stored away. This will minimize the chances of any loose objects flying into your outside condensing unit and damaging any of its components.

3. Keep your condenser elevated

If you are in a flood zone, we recommend having your condenser installed on a pressure treated wood stand. If not in a flood area, at least have the condenser installed on an equipment pad or concrete slab to keep it off the ground.

4. Disconnect it!

Before the storm is due to affect your area, disconnect your HVAC from the power source or at least turn off the power to the system.

5. Check the condenser

After the storm is over, DO NOT turn the power to the unit back on until the water level is below the condensing unit.
