Heat Pumps

Heat pumps are an energy-efficient alternative to traditional heating and cooling systems. We install heat pumps as well as service them to keep your home comfortable year-round. Our comprehensive list for maintenance includes checking refrigerant lines and electrical connections, lubricating motors, calibrating thermostats, cleaning indoor and outdoor parts, ductwork inspection, and more.

Heat pumps operate based on the principle of thermodynamics, specifically the concept of heat transfer from areas of higher temperature to areas of lower temperature. Heat pumps are commonly used for both heating and cooling purposes.

Heat pumps use a refrigerant fluid that transfers heat from one location to another, typically to heat or cool a space. This refrigerant utilizes a closed loop system and can absorb and release heat as it changes from a liquid to a gas and back to a liquid. For heating, the system absorbs heat from the outside air or ground and evaporates the refrigerant, turning it into a low-pressure gas. The heat pump compresses and condenses it, where it’s released and provides heat to an indoor space. In the cooling mode, the process is reversed. The heat pump extracts heat from the indoor air and releases it outside, cooling the indoor space.

Heat pumps are energy-efficient because they move heat rather than generate it, making them a more environmentally friendly and cost-effective option for heating and cooling compared to traditional resistance heaters or air conditioning units. Heat pumps can be used in combination with other heating or cooling systems to improve overall efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
